The Ballengee

Baggy jersey: The Ballengee

Versatile. Functional. Resilient. Beyond elite. Fashionable. All-world endurance junkie Danelle Ballengee has earned our recognition as the most versatile athlete we know. She has achieved across the board success in everything outdoors: triathlon/duathlon, kayaking, adventure racing, cycling, running, snowshoeing – she does it all better than most. We couldn’t think of a better tribute than to name this multi-discipline shirt after Nellie. Her impending return to competition after a near-death experience in 2006 serves as an inspiration to athletes everywhere. The moisture-wicking fabrics have UV protection, anti-bacteria and odor protection to go with the multi-panel design for a sleek fit. This top is available in Candy Corn and Just Before Dawn

Hartman Tee

SS Tech Tee: The Hartman Tee

Our early training sessions took place in and around the Hartman Nature Preserve in Cedar Falls. Simple on the surface, but deeply structured, these sessions prepared us to compete with the best around. This top features UV protection, anti-odor protection, moisture wicking fabrics and a pair of reflective stripes for visibility. We offer this shirt in both Dark as Night and Whipped Cream.

The Dark as Night color is pictured below.

While the front of every piece has a tonal Happy on them, the back of all our clothes have the Happy Mutant logo in the Happy Green color.

Why?

We visited hundreds booths at Interbike. Got the technical run down on what seems to have been thousands of products. I talked to reps, directors, and owners of various companies. Only one, I repeat ONE, company told me why I should buy their product(s). There were even 2 companies that I told them I use their competitor's products, and neither of them attempted to convert me. Tell me its the best and why I should buy it. Tell me its not the best, but why I should buy it anyway.

The goods are coming

Despite our best efforts, we will not have a booth or a launch party at Interbike. Most of the fleece gear is ready, but the cycling gear isn't perfect yet. Since it's not perfect, it doesn't get Happy's stamp of approval.

If you are at Interbike, let me know and I can show you what we have. We will have our samples with us.

Your gear made better

A collegue asked me "What is all this stuff all about?" I responded, it's the best stuff you have, only better. He looked at me with a puzzled look and asked what I meant. I explained that I have clothes that I absolutely love how they fit, but I hate the fabrics they are made of. I have fabrics that I love, but they fit like poo. Then there are the pieces that fit great when I am working out, but are garbage if I am doing anything else. I really like some of the Team Disco stuff, but really don't like how it looks.

So, take all the stuff you have, imagine it being better, and thats what we do. Best fabrics, best all around fit, and the best looks. Clearly understated in appearance, but far superior in function.

V-neck

HM Gear loves fleece. Our love from fleece comes from our racing background. Many races start early morning and during spring or fall events, it can be a bit chilly before and after the events. We came up with this fleece V-neck to keep us warm. Just slip this comfy top over your race gear and warm up. It's cut fits well for either cycling or running. Once you are ready to race, peel it off and have someone wait for you at the finish line. Finish the event and put it back on while you set your recovery plan into motion.

It is also ideal for the brisk commutes to the gym in the morning. You could put on a light jacket, but why not slip on some comfy fleece? The lines and cuts are stylish and practical. You are bound to love this top as much as we do.

Hoody

Not so much a work out piece, but you have to be comfortable and look good during post race and workout activites or when just hanging out with the crew. There is much more to our hoody than a typical one.

We first looked at what we like in a hoody. We like it to be big, soft, and warm. Nothing is nicer than a big hoody to keep you warm and comfortable. Well, anyone can do that, but we wanted to also get rid of the things we don't like. Two things came to mind. The first are big flappy sleeves that make you feel bogged down. The second thing that had to go are big bulky hoods. The hood is practical, but when you always feel it bouncing around and and bunching up, who wants it?

When looking for the best solution for both issues we decided on the number 3. As for what that means and how it makes a better hoody, well you will have to wait until we are ready to share the secrets of this piece.

Baggy Jersey

Here are two pics of the baggy cycling jersey. This is a super versatile piece. It fits somewhere between a tech tee and a baggy cycling jersey. We made the cuts that way because some baggy jerseys are a little too "flappy" along the sides. Having the fit the way it is, will let the wearer sport it around whether on the bike, or on the run.

The proto is true to fit, but the fabrics will be different than what is on this. The proto has three different fabrics and the show piece will have the same fabric throughout, just different colors with the same pattern. You will see the colors when they come in. Can't give all the secrets away just yet.
